More woodcock

When I worked in the old veterinary hospital on the university campus, we were brought many sick and injured birds, and woodcock were high on the list at this time of year.  The usual problem was them flying into windows. For some reason they seem to have more trouble with these than other birds.
Sad, but it did make a change from all the pigeons and gulls that get hit by cars, that people used to hand in.

On 21/10/07 I espied at Woodcock on the roundabout at Knotty Ash, sadly a the time I didn't realise how much interest this bird was to others in the group, and it would seem it would have caused a twitch- nice tick for some. I've never lived it down, so warning to others alert all or keep your mouth shut!
